Friends. They are the ones who don't lose a beat when you respond to their question about your long nails "Have you been taking vitamins?" with "Oatmeal.. and Brown Sugar". Yes, that is precisely how the conversation went last night with Kels followed by a very ADD rabbit trail from pink nails to "Oh my goodness! I just adore those teeny pink cups"...
This lovely lady managed to stay with me through all the zig zags..with a smile on her face (probably thinking internally "she is a mess!").
While savoring dessert Kels whispered conspiratorially to me, her little secret of always allowing me to order my food first, so that I have plenty of time to grab snaps of it before she settles in with her own. It's those little sacrifices friends make for you, which sometimes you are completely oblivious to, that make the memories a little shinier.
I have known Kels for 12 years now. Wow, time flies! We have had our highs and our lows, like any friendship.. but the best part is now we can look back at our history and laugh. She is my friend, I love her, and I know she loves me.

Last night, we were sharing with each other how thankful we were that awhile ago we both chose to "wipe the slate clean" in our relationship. It is crazy how unexpected at times an opportunity arrives for you to do just that, but I would encourage you, don't miss your chance. Who knows what the person has gone through or how they have changed since you last spent time with them (or for that matter how you have changed?). What would happen if you opened your eyes and took a fresh look, refusing to judge based on the past?

Ps- Kels thank you for adventuring with me last night! Everything from baywater sweets (oysters) to sniffing new and favorite scents at Blackbird Apothecary. Girls night was far too fun, the evening ended too quickly, but the memories remain and I am smiling.
