The Common Folk Collections: No. 2 Americana - Photography
"It's time to make sure artists with good intentions are ready to be taken seriously and to gain back their noble respectful place in culture." - Samuel Adoquei
Parker Fitzgerald is one photographer who truly captures the essence of Americana. I discovered him in 2010 (as I am sure many others did) when he launched his 365 day Polaroid project. Each day in 2010 he posted a new photo accompanied by an inspiring quote. The surprise of what photograph and quote he would put up each day was even better than opening a fortune cookie..
Parker Fitzgerald's obvious passion for nature comes through in many of his photographs inspiring you to explore the hidden places forests, waterfalls, and mountains of America.
Since 2010, it has been a joy to watch Mr. Fitzgerald's influence and style continue to grow and in Kinfolk Volume Six I was surprised to see two of my worlds collide when Parker photographed Josh Garrels (who just happens to be one of my favorite musicians). The Kinfolk spread showcases what Parker Fitzgerald does best, his ability to see individuals with a clear lens focusing on their uniqueness. His work is truly compelling and I believe because he seeks to inspire others with photos of timeless beauty his work will be around for a long time.
